Dates & Locations

Preparations are being made to allow four (4) youth to represent Mississippi State University Extension 4-H and the Center for Government & Community Development in the 2023 Lt. Governor’s 4-H Senate Page Program.  These 4-H members are tentatively scheduled to serve the week of February 13-17, 2022 in the Mississippi Senate. Applicants must be age 14 as of January 1, 2023, and not yet graduated from high school

Pages must also have a grade average of at least a “B.”  If selected, the applicant must agree to adhere to all behavioral standards expected of 4-H members. After a selection committee reviews all applications, four (4) individuals will be selected and notified by their local Extension Agent.  It is especially important that applicants express their knowledge of, involvement with, and interest in issues relating to citizenship, leadership, and governmental functions.

The 4-H Youth Development department will provide lodging, conveniently located near the Capitol, some meals, basic accidental/sudden illness insurance, and a chaperone.  Applicants who are not selected to represent MSU-ES 4-H and the GCD are encouraged to contact the office of the Lt. Governor or their local state senator or representative and request that they are appointed as a legislative page at another time under his or her sponsorship.

Applications must be submitted online by Friday, December 16, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. to be considered.  Please give special attention to this due date. To submit an application, visit the following web address: http://gcd.extension.msstate.edu/.  Click on “Register for Events”.  Select “2023 Lt.
