The state legislature prescribes the details of how the boards of supervisors exercise constitutional powers and jurisdiction and prescribes what additional powers and duties are delegated. Section 19-3-41 of the Mississippi Constitution outlines the basic duties and powers of the board of supervisors and states that the board shall have jurisdiction over county roads, ferries and bridges, and all matters of county police.
